Minister of Foreign Affairs Marina Kaljurand to visit Latvia

Today and tomorrow, August 19-20, Minister of Foreign Affairs Marina Kaljurand is visiting Riga to meet with Latvian leaders as well as to participate in the inauguration of the new facilities of NATO Strategic Communications Center of Excellence in Riga and take part in a high-level panel discussion at a strategic communications conference.

While in Riga, Minister of Foreign Affairs Kaljurand will meet with Latvian President   Raimonds Vējonis, Prime Minister Laimdota Straujuma, Minister of Foreign Affairs Edgars Rinkēvičs, and Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Latvian parliament Saeima Ojārs Ēriks Kalniņš.

Estonian-Latvian bilateral relations as well as collaboration between the Baltic states are among mattes discussed at the meeting. Other subjects covered include migration, Russian aggression in Ukraine, strategic communication, and more general security issues. Eston Kohver’s case is discussed as well.

Tomorrow, on August 20, Minister of Foreign Affairs Marina Kaljurand will participate in the inauguration of the new facilities of NATO Strategic Communications Center of Excellence in Riga and take part in a high-level panel discussion at a strategic communications conference, examining the role of strategic communications in NATO.  

Panel participants include Latvian President Raimonds Vējonis, Latvian Prime Minister Laimdota Straujuma, Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Tomasz Siemoniak, Lithuanian Minister of National Defense Juozas Olekas, Latvian Minister of Foreign Affairs Edgars Rinkēvičs, State Minister of Georgia on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration David Bakradze, and  high-level representatives of nations that sponsor, support, and partner the Center of Excellence.
